Weird since 1998

A lot has happened since the 1990s, but we'll always be noo-lahs. Here is the short version of how a talking ball of fur became a pop-culture fixture.

1. 1998

   We hatch

   On October 2 the first Furby arrives with big ears, a beak and its own language, and promptly sells out everywhere.

2. 2005

   We emote

   A larger Furby returns with a more expressive face and voice recognition.

3. 2012

   We get new eyes

   Furby comes back with animated screen eyes and personalities that change with how you play.

4. 2023

   We answer back

   Our 25th anniversary. The current Furby launches in June: say "Hey Furby!" and five voice-activated modes wake up. Furblets follow in December.

5. 2025

   We stretch

   DJ Furby grows to 32 inches, DJ Furblets get stretchy, and one-inch Furby Minis arrive.

6. 2026

   We change moods

   Furby Vibes puts three moods into three pairs of glasses.

What hasn't changed

The ears are still too big. The eyes are still wider than they need to be. We still speak Furbish, still like to be fed and still have opinions. Every generation updates the technology, and keeps the personality.
